To understand the real reason behind our agency's whimsical name, one must go back ten years. a big chihuahua founder Ruben Cubillos was associate creative director at Sosa, Bromley, Aguilar -- the largest Hispanic advertising agency in the country at the time. Coca-Cola, Burger King, Western Union, Bud Light, and American Airlines made up part of the impressive client roster. It was the advent of Hispanic marketing and a momentous time to be in advertising. But, as is the nature of the business and life, the seasons changed and so did Ruben's path.
Some turning points take the form of seemingly unremarkable events. For Ruben, the epiphany to strike out on his own came one afternoon while driving home. It appeared in the form of a billboard bearing a picture of a dog. The billboard inspired thoughts of creative ideas with big bite, and propelled the creation of a Hispanic agency passionately committed to powerful marketing solutions and vibrant creative executions. The Chihuahua, a metaphor for the spirit and lean size of the agency, was the perfect symbol to represent the enthusiasm and drive of this new shop.
